This album is not a 3.5 to my ears. Almost all of the songs on it are great and the lyrics are well written. Shallow, Rapture, Overdose, Falls Apart, Forever....oh wait I'm naming all the songs lol...they're all good. House Carpenter is a fantastic closing track. I think Volume 1 and 2 might be tied for me.This Message Edited On 01.16.09

Vol. 2 has Aftermath so vol. 2 will always be a hint better.

Aftermath is a great song. I just wish that it was a bit longer.

That's what I like best about it. The entire song builds up to that stop at the end. It's brilliant.

Here's why I like this review. It reaffirms my awesome taste in music! That and the first impression i got from Hurt was this:

Tool + AFI (a dash) + Days of the New + Bush = Hurt

Spot on my friend.

The only song I heard from them is 'Talking To God' (Vol II). I found it good but not great.

Talking to God is a pretty sweet song but definitely not their best. If you're interested this is the place to start.

This is by far their heaviest album imo, which I like.

I totally agree. And it makes songs like Danse Russe so much more effective.

That said, I love the mellow material on Vol. II a bit more

When the guy sings quietly he sounds so much like the guy from Live

I can see what you mean but they're seriously different. Loren emulates Maynard James Keenan-esque for me instead of like Eddie Vedder

It really doesn't, same with II. I'm an Overdose fan myself but this whole album is awesome

Romulus loves Hurt. I think Romulus is awesome for loving Hurt.
