i would add that this was the most sterile sounding album metallica made.

Grea album, just purchased it. I think i may enjoy this more than RTL and MoP, so many great tracks, i think my top three are the title track, "one" and "dyers" eve," in that order. The only track that didnt really catchy my attention was "eye of the beholder," and "to live is to die" was a little stretched out i think, probably the worst of the three instrumentals from RtL to this album.

Worst is not the right word. It's a great instrumental, i think it's very close the other two.

To Live is To Die is good, but Ktulu owns both that and Orion.

Call of Ktulu > Orion > To Live Is To Die > Pulling Teeth

I think this is my favorite from Metallica, simply because there is no filler track. This just barely edges MoP. The title track is my favorite song my metallica currently also. My least favorite song, is probably "to live is to die" actually, just because everything else is just so good.

And Call of Ktulu is their best instrumental, yeah.

I'd give this album a better rating if the original recordings were like the ones there.

Indeed, the guitar work is amazing and this has some of lars best drumming. Blackened is still my favorite off this.

Probably Metallica's most underrated and also annoying to listen to because of the production.

It has some of their best songs though. And it doesn't annoy me like Metallica's other albums do. Well, it does, but slightly less.

They might not sing in harmony like The Beatles but their guitar work is lethal and sounds almost medieval like how Blackened starts off with guitars so peaceful like a tune from The Eagles then turns into riffs hot enough to burn down cathedrals. As always aside from the music - keep it peaceful.

Yeah I'm all about "One" as well. I love the aggressive start with "Blackened" too. And the title track is epic all the way through.
