If you're not a fan already, check out some of Beat Takeshi's movies. Hana-Bi is my pick, it's a fucking masterpiece.

I somehow knew that this wouldn't be very good. I like BtBAM and all but I really believe this could have been much, much better. Great review DFelon.

It's an ok album.

Some good stuff, some bad stuff. It depends whether you like what they are covering in the first place.

Hey, DFelon, can I quote you on this part of the review for another review I have going on the Punk Goes 90s Comp? I'll put it italics, quotes, link to this review, and put -DFelon204409 at the end.

This is what I want to use, it's pretty much my thoughts.
To be successful at covering a song, a band has to tap into a song that is either inherently great (for example: Shai Hulud's cover of NOFX's "Linoleum"), or can be molded to be great by reinterpreting it using the idiosyncratic qualities of the particular band covering that moldable song (for example: any song covered by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes). Some songs and bands just can't mix like Throwdown and "Baby Got Back." Sure, results can be humorous, but they definitely aren't good. Enter...
The tracklist for this was dissapointing. I will try to listen to this at a record store or something because I doubt I will have any reason to buy this. BTBAM are one of my favourite bands, but I'm just not interested in hearing 80% of this album.

We'll leave you to your gay singing then.

But seriously, having a brain means we aren't allowed to listen to BTBAM's other CDs?

I don't see how this cd could ruin a band? Alaska just came out last year, and I'm sure their going to have another one on the way pretty soon, I don't really see this album as a big deal. Personally, I'm not all that excited for new BTBAM anyway.

I don't know about you, but Cemetary Gates actually sounds good after the 5th listen or so. Tommy's vocals carry a certain smoothness to it that gives an old favorite a new spin... certainly like the new solos they throw into it.

The rest of the album is hit and miss.

I agree with this review completely.
