Jammed this for the first time today. Been meaning to do it for a long time and was not disappointed. I miss the noisiness of Transmissions (a favorite of mine) but this is a different beast entirely.

I miss when the Lips made music like this as opposed to collaborating constantly.

Yoshimi has too many songs with the same kind of long, flowing melodies in a row, whereas this album is varied and paced perfectly

Starting out with Soft Bulletin ruined all other Flaming Lips albums for me.

Is there a track listing that is considered the most "official" for this? I hate when albums have varying tracklistings or remixes on them, because I want to feel like it is a cohesive work of art. It seems like the most readily available versions of this start with the "Race for the Prize" remix and include the "Buggin'" remix as track 5. Is this, ending with "Sleeping on the Roof", minus any bonus tracks, more or less the "official" version?

I'll definitely go with the vinyl track listing. I don't know why they would package this with remixes.

"Upon its release, The Soft Bulletin was subject to record company demands for commercial-sounding music, hence the inclusion of remixes of several songs. In addition, the US and UK CDs each contain one track that the other does not, "The Spiderbite Song" and "Slow Motion" respectively." - wikipedia

I hope at least there were some good drugs involved.

dude I listened to this on acid a while ago and my vinyl copy has the correct tracklisting, including slow motion, but i didn't know that slow motion existed, and i pretty much died and ascended when slow motion came on

acid was super fun but stomach cramps were so fucking painful and weed didn't help.
