Man I'm pissed. Just went to three stores and no sign of it. So much for in stores everywhere June 13. And it wasn't sold out, they didn't carry it at all.

You can get Darts To The Sea and the bonus disk in digipak for like, $5 from Loudmerch.com, and that is like, 30 songs worth of tracks, weellll worth it.
Even if I have Darts to the Sea already? I saw some new tracks I didn't recognize but are they really good?

Some of them are. But for $5 you can't really go wrong, it's in a smart dvd digipak and everything.
Some tracks like the demos sound raw as hell though. Designed like Dice sounds like it was sung through a distortion pedal, sounding like Converge a bit at times. There's a more vocal version of Eyes Baptized, and an electric Baby Baby Eskimo Kisses too. A bunch were on soulseek, so grab a few and see what you reckon.

What exactly is darts to the sea, its 2 cds? and only 5 dollars? how and why lol... is loudmerch.com the only place that sells it

Well hey, i just ordered it lol... so I hope it'll be good. But only being five dolars, there isn't really anything to lose. I'm looking forward to picking up alphabet alphabets soon too. Great band, good review too

The Singular/Plural song title thing is a bit weird, but from all I heard so far I quite like this. I always heard nothing but good about the previous EPs, but so far I could not get hold of 'em.
No conclusive rating yet, that'll follow

It's TS's first album, it had been out of print for years, but they've just re-released it with a free bonus disc. It used to be going for like, $18, but since they left loudmerch, the site are trying to get rid of the stock. Eyes Baptised In Mercury is amazing.

I got it and it's sick. Not sure of a rating yet. Artist. Artists. is my personal favorite right now.

Ya. Loudmerch didnt give any description at all on the product. Is the second cd demos and such? I'm actually really excited for it. As for the Singular/Plural thing, i agree that it is a bit weird, but i thought it was interesting. Yah, and Damrod, if you're willing to buy online check out smartpunk, because they have both the original eps. As soon as i get my pay check im picking up both of them.

To be completely honest with you, Alliteration isn't going to save this band from it's horrible writing about ex-girlfriends. Frankly, I would rather watch my grandmother get gang-banged then read through this what-a-middle-school-goth-kid-would-write-and-call-a-poem album. Musically.. they do have some alright parts... little.

to compare this work to a middle school goth kid is stupid. Although Jerry's lyrics aren't always the best, they are better written and much deeper than many songs out there now. Most of this album isn't even about ex-girlfriends, save maybe a few of the earlier tracks, and most of the times in which Jerry brings forward ideas of relationship, he's usually also referencing them as metaphors for more existential and psychological things. It's just the fact that he writes in such a personal style that some of these things don't always show through. Judging by these comments, you're simply comparing him to the likes of Aiden and the new faux-emo bands that are ruining the scene.

That's the most fanboy comment.

but to call them the work of a 'middle-school-goth-kid' is totally out of the question too. And to be fair, lots of people get his lyrics, and many people understand them much better than I do. Jerry writes so that the songs encompass lots of different layers, and can hold different meanings. To pigeonhole them in with the typical face-value 'Cut my wrists and black my eyes' isn't the right thing to do in this situation.
|
| |
Well you said yourself that they can "hold different meanings", so wouldn't that mean that his interpretation of the lyrics are just as valid as anyone thinking that they're actually good?

I don't like much emo and such musics and such, but I really like this album right now. The lyrics can be pure cheese, or very thoughtful, but the vocals themselves are great. I also dig the guitar at points.
