I've never been much into Steven Wilson's solo stuff even though i love most of Porcupine Tree's discography.
Most of his solo work always struck me a little bit as self-serving.

But damn, i really liked this one. The brightness of the sound really made a difference.
I never had any doubt of Wilson's capacities, but he surprised me a lot with the versatility on this album.

Also, Nynet Tayeb's voice is something outta this god damn planet.

the whole point of a solo career is to be self serving, is it not?

but if you're saying he's pretentious I can see where you're coming from

Ninet is fantastic, she's a definite highlight. I don't like this as much as Raven or HCE but it's a great listen even if it does end on a bit of a weak note

It's definitely better than hand, not as good as raven. This is a bit more carefree than both and it has some quality moments. I really like it. 4.

The notion that this record is "supposed" to be some insane departure for Steven Wilson into a rather stigmatized genre (pop) seems to drive a lot of the biased opinions towards it, whether they're positive or negative.

Doesn't help that SW himself tries to push that notion, because this really isn't crazy different from his norm. It's just another Steven Wilson album, and he doesn't like repeating himself. Makes me wish he said less about it and just released it without the superfluous self-press and single releases.

it's poppy for Steven Wilson standards but I don't see this getting radio play

reminds me of porcupine tree more than any other solo steven wilson album, some parts have that in absentia vibe. cool record, nothing really sticks out for me on this one idk. it's an enjoyable listen, but doesn't ask me for more.
