I listened to this album in my History of Jazz and Rock class. I like it but The Beatles have much better albums. This Message Edited On 01.17.09

the Beatles did more then anybody to legitimize psychedelic music at the time and brought it kicking and screaming into the mainstream. and considering how far the Beatles came artistically and creatively in just a few short years (from things like Please Please Me to A Day In The Life, for instance) makes this album even more remarkable
it was only in the mainstream because of the name, no one really cared what it sounded like because after Revolver everyone thought they were untouchable, at their concerts you couldnt even hear the band over the horny women in the crowd, so they didn't tour for this record. I'll agree that they came a long way in a short amount of time, but even then people ignored all the other bands who were doing it better, the same thing happens today

Ok, so apart from the singles and the songs everyone has heard, I've never actually listened to a Beatles album in full. Should I start with this, Revolver or Abbey Road? If it helps, I love their songs more along the vein of Help!, Twist and Shout, Eleanor Rigby, etc., but that's with the fact in mind that I've really only heard Beatles singles.

Aleister Crowley is the face in the top left of the album cover.
Look him up, pretty creepy.

Artwork needs sorting. The one up is really bad quality and blurred.

I'm finally getting round to the beatles! I picked up this a few days ago and it's easily a 5.

Where should I go next? The White Album or (I'm thinking) Revolver?
