obv this isn't on level with most PF but yeah this is prob the best solo effort by any of them lyrically, although I still prefer the guitar work on Gilmour's Rattle That Lock to anything instrumentally here.

Although the band's live performance of the alvum Is There Anybody Out There? blows it out of the water. Still can't believe people still sleep on it

and Waters' best solo album.
That's really not saying much, his solo output has been bizarre and not in a good way.
Even though this sucked, the review was a great read.

What's with all the positive buzz around an album by some old fart
*Has never listened to a Pink Floyd album before; literally misspelled 'Floyd' in first draft of this post; is an ignorant idiot*

If Roger wanted to make the album sound like Pink Floyd so bad like he does here he should've reunited the band. Had little expectation going into this and I was still disappointed... Amused to Death will always be he pinnacle

Amazing album

I didn't really enjoy this, musically or lyrically.
I'm also not interested in any more boring politics in my music. When was the last time a popular musician had something particularly original to say about politics? Yeah, yeah, we get it, you don't like the president every 4-8 years when a republican comes into office.
As a teenager I may have enjoyed this but these days I prefer albums about things that are more human and personal, things that are better communicated through music.

I'll check it out. Good review as always, Sowing.

This is heavily minimalist, which is good in my eyes because I think his music gets a tad bit corny when it becomes overly theatrical, and it does a very good job shifting the focus onto the lyrics and his edge of the seat calloused delivery.

Is This The Life We Really Want? It is the central question of Roger Waters' new album. A question he answers in his anger about the current political games, the world wars and the many refugees victims. The album is full of musical references to classics from the time of Pink Floyd, but due to the influence of producer Nigel Godrich there are some necessary little musical innovations. The depth of the whole is strengthened especially in the use of electronic gadgets and orchestral sounds. Although the emotional tone covers most of the album, there is still a spark of hope on the horizon by the end. The musical package effortlessly connects to the engaging vocal lines and the many images being projected on the retina. Even though Roger Waters knows that this isn't the life he embraces, in love he finds a safe place to await his approaching end. 8.6/10
