Yea, but that's not the definition of a novelty band... that's you complaining about the fanbase, which is 90% of every DG argument ever.

That can be said about any artist tho. A lot of fans dont want to criticize their favorite act and thus, force themselves to like all their material... because they love that artist. kendrick lamar immediately comes to mind but there are countless others. Most people are not like those of us on sput who try too hard to rate something in an unbiased fashion. Not only that but some people-a lot of people- genuinely like things that you may hate as crazy as that sounds.

I don't think many people really like the non-Ride centric releases (Fashion Week, Interview 2016, I'll even throw government plates in there) as much as the ones where Ride is the focal point, if at all. I know I personally don't.

The novelty is there, but its clearly not a just a gimmick, I revisit their old albums and whilst i find less shocking, I still enjoy them very much. Even the whole shock aspect of their sound feels quite zeitgeist.

with each album they've taken their sound a step further and in a new direction so its not hard to see how they've stayed relevant and how ppl continue to go nuts for each new release
