I listened to a handful of the singles and if those are any indication the 1s are definitely warranted.

Wow. Two reviews of this album now and both give it a 1 out of 5. Can Linkin Park possibly have gotten that bad? I'm not ready to believe it yet.

No shit there's worse out there and I even wrote the other 1 review on this going into immense detail why this is a 1. It drops .5 for me based on the principle of the band caring more about money and letting their record label take over the band than integrity

Yeah because integrity pays the bills. Wtf even is integrity in music? Living poor to please a minority of fans who cling to nostalgia? Get off your high horse

TVC15, thanks for the link! Those are HTML tags lol.

Gyromania - who really is on the high horse here? The fans who are disappointed with the mediocre and uninspired music, or the band who admonishes them for expecting something better?

Good review. I mean, it's not like this band hasn't ever tried to do whatever is trendy with the times, but at least they tried with past releases. This, on the other hand, has zero creativity, angst, energy, heart... whatever. There's def worst out there, but this is shit as shit can be.

Great review, album is total trash. I have no idea why've they taken such a 180 degree turn after The Hunting Party.

My initial impression of this review... "I don't like this album because Chester said something mean to 'fans'."

The rest of the review... "Why is LP making pop music. Buncha sellouts."

Read the comments... "Don't forget, Chester said other mean things too."

The petulance surrounding this album is going to be insufferable, if it isn't already.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is particularly good pop music, but it's not 1/5. My only beef is that Linkin Park have always been pretty bad at coming up with meaningful lyrics in their music, and they're at the forefront here. No aggression, or speed, or instrumental work to cover it up.

Then again, lyrically most pop music is vapid af. So I guess Linkin Park is right there in the thick of it.

The biggest problem is that mike has a total creative control over the band, when he wants softer shit things like mtm and this are the result, and when he wants harder stuff albums like the hunting party are the result. But it seems that the previously mentioned reason is not the only one that motivated this abortion. First of all chester became a fanboy of crappy shit like 21 pilots and lady gaga, as a result he supported that shitty change and in fact he has been member that has defended more OML against the fan backlash. Second the album didn't sell well compared to the other LP releases, it sold well compared to a lot of the works of their nu metal, mainstream rock and metalcore contemporaries but it wasn't enough for the record label and the band, is clear that both parts don't wan't LP after all these years became a niche band and they are trying to get the same results that have 21 pilots, imagine dragons and other shit like that. The only tolerable tracks are talking to myself, sharp edges and the self titled which are the outliers of this thing, the other 6 tracks which are a mashup between the chainsmokers, 21 pilots, avicii and imagine dragons ( specially heavy and invisible are unlistenable), also good goodbye is just shitty mainstream rap for shitty ironic hipsters, swagfags and the lowest scum on earth. Initially I was going to rate it with a 2, but they fuckin insulted a big part of the audience just to get into top 40 so they deserve a 1,5. I hope that they get their head out of their asses and that the next record will be a mashup between HT and THP with elements of ATS, prog, industrial, botch and meshuggah, they should do that if they want redemption

I'm not trashing LP for making pop music. There's plenty of god pop out there. But I definitely oppose the production of such uninspired, half-assed and blatantly commercial music. Most of my review is dedicated more to point out the weakness of their pop, followed by a well-deserved rant.

1-2/5 doesn't really differ much, and lower points for actually being a band I liked once.

It took 6 members to make this shit?
