Nothing here even touches Kuroi Ledge. Such a weird song to choose to compare it to.

I wouldn't say so. Kuroi Ledge is definitely better than the songs on this album, but it signaled ALLB's movement towards a softer direction.

I guess for me I see Kuroi Ledge as the most intense parts of that record. It might not be as spastic or crowded as the other tracks, but the quieter elements build up to a huge climax at the end that DIVISI just doesn't have. Anyways, despite my nitpicking this is a great review.

speaking of the kuroid ledge similarity, the band hints at it in the statement released when kurt left: http://www.killyourstereo.com/news/1082205/a-lot-like-birds-respond-to-kurt-traviss-statement
i highly highly recommend reading it, because it's by far the most sincere and pure band statement i've read of a member leaving. they are honestly such mature and well-composed and good people, so regardless of my slight disappointment of this album, i still hope good things happen to them
kurt's statement is v good too: http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/former_a_lot_like_birds_vocalist_says_he_left_band_because_of_new_direction

When I read Cory say "I wish Kurt the fucking best in everything" and "If Kurt reads this, all I have to say is that I love you, respect the path you take and I hope that you have the best of luck in every single thing that you do, and I know that you will." that made me extremely happy
It's good that there isn't any bad blood between them, because they were such a tight knit group of dudes

yeah definitely - they approached this whole situation in the calmest, most rational way
they also talk about things that extend beyond music - i especially liked when micheal says:
>The unfortunate(/fortunate) reality of ANY relationship is that you are two different people experiencing two different journeys and you are going to change with time. You can either grow together, or grow apart
in reference to Kurt leaving because he couldn't "grow" with them

Very true, and I'm sure that it was the best move for both Kurt and ALLB. No doubt, I would've loved a continuation of the sound from No Place, and I miss Cory's screaming a lot, but I dig this record.
At least Kurt has another project, and I'm hyped for that
