"there pretty much aren't any" ???? what. what he's saying is probably the most important party of the album. also i still listen to this at least once daily

there's like 8 lines repeated throughout each song lol. not saying lyrics are bad just like there aren't many of them. and they seem to fit the vibe of the song rather than carry a message. the ambience/instrumentation/vocal melodies are where this album kicks ass

i really am confused as to how you think they don't carry a message. these are songs about enduring sobriety and feeling confident in your queerness and those are the reasons this album speaks to me, i think it's pretty clear the instrumentation is supposed to support what he's saying and not the other way around. listening to just like love is only meaningful to me because i know he's singing about feeling comfortable in your otherness.

The song 'Valley' seems to end abruptly. I wish it carried on for a bit longer

So I just skimmed through the lyrics on genius again, ur definitely right that some of the songs carry a message I sorta mistated, I more meant that the lyrics are sparce enough that they don't really have a rigid context (unless "explained" by an outward source) which makes the lyrics vague and easily interpreted several different ways which can totally work great (see Kid A) but without the gorgeous mood setting music it wouldn't feel like it means as much
some of the lyrics of entire songs on this album could fit in a tweet

He does that a lot, but it works well

I speed ran through Perfume Geniuses discog and I think this is my favorite from him atm. Slip Away is just on repeat for me, even though I know eventually I'll get tired of it and appreciate the other songs on this album even more.
