also why does that bright piano line on A Better Sun sound so damn familiar?? reminds of something so 90s but not even remotely emo but i can't put my finger on it

Its tone reminds me of U2's With or Without You, but I don't think that's what you're thinking of.

Seems to have. This might be one of my favorite albums this year. It's straightforward but executed really well.

some of the most cringeworthy lyrics and vocals of 2017. this band is overrated and always has been - and this is coming from someone who lived in CT (where they're from) from 2005-2012 and grew up going to shows and supporting most emo/punk/whatever bands from the area and still check bands out from there (I'm in MA now). this & Joy, Departed aren't BAD, they are just painfully average. that lyric about the basketball team dying and shooting hoops in heaven or whatever is god awful. how many times does he have to mention his friends dying? it's like a damn parody after awhile. every time a new song comes on it's like "okay, how long before he mentions a friend dying?" i feel bad that he probably has had a lot of tragedies in his life, but it gets to the point where enough is enough - especially considering this isn't the first release where he has sung about these things. this album does overall have a cleaner sound than Joy, Departed, which is nice, but it's still a boring instrumental and vocal performance.

cheapcrayon is on point. trivial band makes trivial music, no reason they should have any recognition

The "more at 11" part. Apparently it's a meme, did not know. My bad.

Still I'm pretty sure that there are other reasons to dislike this than just opinion differences. Its a really mundane record.
