3 seems very generous. I shan't be listening to anymore of this blood nuts bs than what i'm forced to on the radio in situations where I can't escape it

I'm not thinking it's too too generous; for as formulaic as it is there are still 3 gorgeous ballads on here and a couple fun tracks. It's the fluffy, pointless filler that drags it down.

The Shape of You is catchy but generic. still not as good as anything of +, which still had its flaws

So what I got from your review is that this is a lazy album that basic white upper middle class women are going to obsess over for some reason.

Good review though, I have been reading reviews on Sputnik for a couple years now and you always do fantastic job.

People are on this album's dick a bit more now that there's a Sowing review. The other thread was a mess. Anyway it sounds nice enough to me.

BTW on streaming platforms, the cover art is the only of Sheeran's albums to have the album title written on it. Like we can recognise + and x but knowing the ÷ is stretching it.

Thanks both of you. It can be a bit cumbersome to try and write a review about something that is just more of the same, so I tried to keep this short and to the point.

And yeah, Shaq, the middle class white girl thing is as true a stereotype as any and it definitely applies to this album. I'm not going to pretend that I don't enjoy some of his stuff, but I can see through everything he does to recognize the absence of artistic merit. This is just sugar pop.

I just can't vibe to him, I wish he would go further into the folkier direction, "i see fire" is sonically and vocally my favourite thing he's done. Has a great voice but his lyrics just come of as so pandering and watered down. Never liked him doing hip hop as it always comes of awkward, New Man is fucking awful even if it's meant to be a joke track.

I have a feeling my review may have misfired - I dunno, I guess I'm just getting more out of it than seemingly everyone else, maybe it's just my guilty pleasure pop fix masquerading itself as something more worthwhile...

Mercury you're a big shot contrib now, none of this apologizing for what you like shit. If you say Ed Sheeran gets a 4, then goddammit it's a 4 and everyone else better fall in line.
