almost every maiden classic was written by him (if im not mistaken, the only big exception is powerslave) and during the 80's the band released 7 excellent studio albums + live after death

Harris is the man agreed but he's had plenty of help on every album, especially the classics. He writes about half of their material.

Agreed, Smith has been a very valuable additional songwriter from NOTB onward, and actually outmatched Harris' writing on Somewhere In Time by a bit. Bruce of course has Revelations and Powerslave to his name, and both have been contributing some fine songs (both with and without Steve's input) over the years.
Much of Harris' work during their golden years is unmatched (the only bad thing there is Quest for Fire), but he did write some clunkers later on. Obviously I'm mostly referring to the 90's here.
