I agree.

My 4s are all contenders to be 4.5s. ''Il Passo Delle Ore'' would appear to be better into an album with exclusively ballads of its kind. It has something charming, but it seems misplaced for me on here. My faves are the first one which I feel they worked hard to craft that solid progressive rock gem (in the kind of many other songs on here). My second fave has nothing to do with prog, but it doesn't have to be. It's ''Estate '41'' There is a certain flamenco feel introduced with that guitar solo at the beginning, and then we got a romantic, mediterranean flavour all the way, just like Italians know how to do so. Song gives me goosebumps every time. For some reason, I'd imagine the song to fit in any Sting album.
Un Ciclone Sul Pacifio; 5/5
Perdo il colore Blu; 4.5/5
Il Passo Delle Ore; 3.5/5
La Fabbrica Delle Nuvole; 4/5
La Luna e La Lepre;4/5
Estate '41; 5/5
Nel Fiume dei Giorni i Tuoi Capelli;4.5/5
Il Matto e l’Aquilone; 3.5/5
Le Parole Che Non vi ho Detto; 3/5

The only point where we disagree is for Il Matto, which is one of my favorites. I'm glad for those two songs that received a 4.5 though. Especially for Nel Fiume, the short length is quite misleading

I dig some parts of it, but I feel the song is not developed, at least it sounds too much like a collage, and it's kind of disjointed between the segments. But after revisiting the song, it has a little more sense to my ears. I dig the orchestral instrumental breaks for sure. Melody is also great I now realize. Probably deserves a 4 ;)

Yes, I see what you mean by "collage". Personally I love it, my favorite part is between 2:00 and 2:30. I love when an artist creates something that evolves without sounding forced or made to show-off

Sergio Lattuada has passed away, Maxophone comes to its end.
I'd make a news article but Sputnik wouldn't really care

That's sad news...It's arguably the heart and soul of the band. RIP mr Lattuada and most likely Maxophone...Will jam their music in his honour.

I didn't know that. It's a pity and a very sad thing. Maxophone was one of the greatest Italian prog acts. RIP.

Maxophone is indeed over. The final sentence of the message that pop-ups when you enter the band's site is "the story of Maxophone ends here, it ends with his farewell. Our music remains."
|
| |
That is really a sad thing, indeed. But, they're right. Their music remains with us forever. RIP.

They've released that last and well crafted album just in time...Thanks to the providence...
On a side note, I've just read a review for this album on Progarchives, and the writer compared the debut album with this one, saying that it now lacks the variety of horns and flutes that were their signature sounding in the 70s.
But according to me, both albums have their similarities at some point, but they now sound modern and even poppish in places. They still flirt with classical and jazz but to a lesser extent on here.

The albums came out with a distance of four decades and they reflect it, they are two different declinations of Maxophone's sound. Taking in account singles like Il fischio del vapore, I'd say that everything fits in its place in the end
