TIME

has taken its toll on you

The lines that crack your face

FAMINE

Your body it has torn through

Withered in every place

PESTILENCE

For what you have had to endure

And what you have put others through

DEATH

Deliverance for you for sure

There is nothing you can do

Despite switching half of its line-up, Californian quartet Metallica hit the ground running on debut LP 'Kill 'Em All'. While 7 tracks had appeared on previous demo releases, improvements through reworking & production practically makes that irrelevant. The lyrics & vocals are a little immature, and the band would later add more complexity to their arrangements, but the blend of metal & hardcore punk is what makes this such a ground-breaking & influential album. Relentlessly riff-driven, this frantic - yet melodic - LP somehow finds the right balance of aggression & fun! Recommended Tracks: Seek & Destroy, Hit the Lights, The Four Horsemen & No Remorse.
