I own the BB version with the holographic cover. I didn't include the bonus tracks though because I've always felt like they shouldn't count towards a review score when most people are just hearing the standard tracks. Plus, they're not even officially part of the album anyway.

aw, bonus tracks sometimes r crtical tho
(usually for weezer albums)

Bonus tracks consistently frustrate me bc a lot of the time, they end up being some of the best songs on the album. Like why would they keep them off

Last of Our Kind is a pretty sweet bonus track. It's basically a better version of Still Remains from ABIII.

It's taking longer than I'd hoped but I should have it done soon. Hopefully by tomorrow or even later tonight.

Would this be a good introduction to the band? Haven't heard anything outside a few songs from the radio.

It would, but just listen to Blackbird first.

new corn. new creed. i laugh

Gave Blackbird a spin and hey it was pretty good! Some of the better newer hard rock I've heard in awhile. It had enough variety going on where I felt they stood above some of their peers.

That's a fair description for them. The title track from Blackbird is just wonderful.

That and ties that bind might be favorites, but the whole record was solid. These guys jam; I'm sold.

Fortress would be the second best, but you can pick whichever you want.

Fantastic review. Album is a bit of a grower I think and there's some great melodic hooks here and there but overall it's more of the same. I was hoping for something a little different this time around. The feeling that you've heard all these songs before keeps on bugging me while listening to this album. Apart from some obvious exceptions like Show Me A Hero or Crows On A Wire, these songs are hard to distinguish from earlier AB material. With that they unfortunately seem to bring down the perceived quality of this earlier material too somehow...

"Cradle to the Grave" is really good.

I found out what the problem is with this album; like quite some other AB albums, these guys need someone that separates the good from the bad (or less good) tracks. With an album of 13 songs there's room to shave of some extraneous material that isn't up to par. Leave out "My Champion", "Poison in Your Veins", "You Will Be Remembered" and the last part of "This Side Of Fate" (everything after the first guitar solo) and you're left with a very fine album indeed.

First two are actually singles so they certainly dig them.

I think you should make a choice; do you make radio friendly pop rock album or an alternative hardrock-metal album. The tracks I mentioned are not bad songs, they just stick out as quite different from the rest, a lot more pop-rock oriented. The album as a whole doesn't feel coherent, a complaint shared by others, as I understand from a lot of the other comments above.
