boy this rips. I remember saying when I heard those Omnium Gatherum records produced by Swano (which I found pretty bland in terms of songwriting) that I wished he produced the Insomnium records. And there we go

Now they just need to announce a co-headlining tour with Moonsorrow in North America and things are all good

Loving this.
I honestly don't find Swano is that good a producer in his modern run. In his early days, he clearly worked with a lot of exceptional bands, but the unique and hazy production jobs some of those albums got (Brave Murder Day, Morningrise, etc) were more accident than design.
When he returned to production in a big way in more recent years, I found he did a lot of very sterile sounding albums. He's improved over the years though and this one breathes very nicely.

I think it was one for sorrow for me, that album just does not catch on at all

Typical melodic death metal, just like Be'labore.

Be'labore

Album Rating: 4.5
yeah be'lakor are terribly predictable with their riffs and structures, but the melodies they write are so good that nobody cares and still considers them excellent

Insomnium is better yeah, Stone's Reach is excellent. Rest is allright, but nothing too amazing.

Album already has bolded blue status on RYM damn

Album Rating: 4.5
As somebody who has never used rym what does that mean
|

Album Rating: 3.5
^ quite surprised as rym is fairly cancer these days with slating good tunes.

Album Rating: 5.0
I know that RYM is pretty tough on metal in general and this has a pretty damn high average (even higher than AtWW atm).
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Their charts are so broken. Terminal has 3.79 atm (only 0.01 ahead of winters) 37 0.5 ratings on it. Awesome

Album Rating: 4.5
3,5 on RYM translates to 4,0 on Sputnik. If you see something with that average, it's pretty fucking good. Stuff with 3,7 is AOTY contender level easily
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
Yeah, consider that In the Nightside Eclipse or Obscura are both at 3.9 and 3.87 respectively, RYM's rating don't really compare to sput's.

Album Rating: 3.5 | Sound Off
people downvote everything once the yearly chart updates, but this keeping its high score is a bit unusual.
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Saying that there are albums here rated as average that get a lot better ratings on rym
