Flug - I am being serious. They can all play. Love the instrumentation. I just don't dig the singer.

If they did an album that had a similar style of The Endless Knot I'd totally be on board with it.

These guys are a bit over-hyped for my tastes. This is probably their best record to date though. I need to give 'Visions' another shot, but I thought 'The Mountain' was so overrated. These guys are too much 'look what we can do' and not enough emotion to really get me into them. They're PROG rather than being progressive as far as pushing music forward.

Secretstache, I'm sorry dude, but I have to respectfully say, your wrong. The Mountain is the most flawless prog album I've heard since Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory or Perfect Symmetry - Cockroach King, Atlas Stone, In Memoriam FLAWLESS I SAY.

I don't see a lot of 'look what I can do' on The Mountain, but I see a lot of it here. We're on completely different pages apparently.

Cockroach King is the epitome of it to me. I'm sure Haken fans think that it's fun and hilarious, but to me it undermines the idea that 'The Mountain' is meant to be considered ART. Affinity has moments like this too, but it's a bit more even for me and has more songs that I can delve into without wankiness/silliness distracting from the emotional experience.

Cockroach King fucking owns lol. Some of the synths are a little cheesy, but they fit really well.

it's definitely one of the better songs on here, but to me it doesn't really get going until the last third.

The last two songs on the other hand are great. Shame the rest of the album is shit.

This is my favourite of theirs. I also don't like the singer very much. To me he sounds the same way overproduced music feels - ok, but give me something more.
