And the band wrote an open letter aimed at Julie because they too seem to think that this is better than their past efforts, expressing a desire to continue with her.

i can understand why a lot of people feel this album has a very freshening effect on the band but sath is a post-metal classic and they'll never top it for me (and i don't think the band themselves actually love this more than that album)

I'm not really big on post-metal in general and the band, apart from this release, haven't changed that. The creation of this apparently was a revelation to the band members and I agree with them that the sound and approach found here is the way forward.
