Merged is the best way - I am not a huge fan of straight ambient stuff. If anyone needs a synced disc in FLAC..PM me...I can get you a link.

There are some merged copies on soulseek.
I usually just load each disc into a stereo track on Reaper and listen that way. When I'm at my studio and can route through two sets of speakers it sounds better but is still plenty amazing through one set.
Love listening in reaper or similar because I have the option of muting one the two tracks here or there without getting off the pace if I want to focus in on a certain part from one of the discs.

Yeah i found a torrent for a combined audio rip easy enough, it verges on being too clustered and indecipherable though- since both audio is at roughly the same level whereas i think the ambient disk is supposed to be a little bit quieter as to not overpower the instruments. My oooonly complaint is that sometimes vocalist needs to shut is cocksucker for a few seconds during the climaxes

Might not be particularly dynamic, but the vocal performance on this is probably one of my favourites on any album for sheer emotional impact. Just bleeds manic desperation.

There are very few other instances in songs as emotional and powerful as the last 5 minutes of Au Pays Natal / Sol

au pays natal is almost almost almost the best thing they ever wrote, last 5 minutes are the most perfect closing of a post metal record ive heard

This one along with weighing souls with sand would be the most overwhelming/powerful album ive ever heard

I've still never actually jammed this merged, and at the moment I've got the discs and the two stereo systems to do so; thinking I might do so this weekend or something, but I'm scared that I'm never going to enjoy music in the same way again :3

I did it again. I had to play Au Pays Natal/Sol on youtube ...for the bazillionth time.

Missing the days of this abrasively textured, reverbed, wall-of-guitar sound style. Current post metal is so booooring. This album is controlled chaos.

@Balls try buried inside chronoclast, its very visceral experience too.

Then you aren't looking in the right places oceandrowned. Check out the post metal scene in Ukraine, Poland and Russia. Excellent post metal coming out of those countries right now. If u want some recs I can give ya some.

Is it weird that I have only listened to the combined version of this?
