This is good but the more rock-leaning moments really aren't what I want to hear from Ulver.

I could understand those elements throwing someone for a loop, but as huge fan of krautrock and double drumming, it basically scratched all the right itches.

I heard that Solaris is longer on some versions, but can't find it anywhere. If anyone has a link or knows where to hear it you should post in this thread.

Not even sure how I'd rank Shadows, Prediction City and Messe any more. They are definitely my top 3 though.

Bergtatt and Shadows are my favs and PC is 3rd best. Then Nattens, Marriage, the recent 3, then Kveldssanger are next best. Blood Inside last b/c some of it is a little too wtf for me, love the first few songs though.

Messe has its moments but for the most part it's probably the dullest offering of theirs I've laid my ears upon. Can't stress that enough.

I actually had a similar opinion for years, but just this past summer on one of my Ulver listening binges it finally clicked with me and now it's one of my favs

Good for you I guess. But seriously, how much do you have to turn the volume up to actually enjoy listening to that record, especially the first song. What an uneventfull drone of a build-up.

It makes a huge difference to listen to Messe on headphones, it's their most quiet and subtle release.
I wish it and this had more of Garm's vocals, but other than that they're amazing. I'm hoping for a change in direction soon though.
