A great album with only a couple lower points, though the huge levels of heaviness really does overshadow the unique sound that was starting to show here and makes Isis sound far more like a Neurosis clone than the band really is at this point.
I hear Neurosis everywhere - the hopeless, bleak assault is one Neurosis influence Isis got VERY right, even if it was almost too difficult to listen to this sort of music anymore. (I seriously wanted to stop listening around the fourth track...) There's a way of putting the music together and different ambient feels that sound different.
It cannot be neglected that the intro of "Collapse and Crush" is the single heaviest moment in all five Isis CDs. It felt like the lyrical situation was actually happening.
