Review Summary: amazing
I was first introduced to Eminem from his latest album The Marshall Mathers LP 2. As expected, I too became a Stan and was obsessed with Eminem's music. After i heard Recovery, TMMLP2 and The Eminem Show i really thought there could be no other album of Eminem that could touch me as these three albums did. Obviously, i was highly disappointed when i first heard Encore, but i was pleasantly surprised at the surprisingly catchy beats of some of the songs even though the lyrics was such that it was like written by a 5 year old. now coming back to Marshall Mathers LP, this is one of the best albums i've ever heard and gave the most offensive '*** you' vibe in a long time( however cliche it seems). Coming to the review, i have heard this album literally more than fifty times. It never gets old. Hence this review can be considered as a retrospective review too.
Public Service Announcement 2000: I should have known what the album would be like when i heard this. It sounds like a joke at first, but then you get the feeling Eminem is serious when he ends it with ' yeah sue me'. You see his first glimpse of arrogance and self awareness right here.
Kill you(10/10): MY GOD THIS SONG. I DARE YOU TO PLAY THIS ALOUD IN PUBLIC. the first six-ten lines are so offensive, all the girls who hear this would literally get their panties in their bunch. Apart from the amazing lyricism and a beat, its Eminem's energy on the song which does it for me.
Stan(10/10). DAMN I CANT RATE THIS MORE THAN 10. People use the word 'hauntingly beautiful' when they describe this song but more than that its again Eminem's energy and the way he changes his voice in every verse accordingly is again what makes this song seem so real. This song has more story in it than three fourth of the movies coming out these days. Hear it and fall in love with it.
Paul(skit): I never liked it and i dont like it here also.
Who Knew(9/10): This song reeks so much of sarcasm, Chandler Bing would have sex with it. Your mom will hate it, but if you're a rebel like every other teenager in this world, this is when you truly feel Eminem.
Steve Berman: Actually a nice skit.
The Way I am(10/10): THIS SONG PUMPS ME UP EVERYTIME AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. The raw energy in this song is enough for it to stick in you head for a long long time( seriously you cant get it out of your head). Its basically Eminem bitching about everything but this time i actually love it.
The Real Slim Shady(9/10): Catchy as ***.Period. This is where you get the true feeling of 'dont give a ***' and actually embrace it. Amazing celebrity disses. Just amazing. I think this song brought out the Slim Shady within me.
Remember Me?(8/10): HOLY *** THIS BEAT.OFFICIALLY GOING TO BE MY RINGTONE. one mediocre verse by RBX and a very good verse by Sticky Fingaz but Eminem outshines him at the end.( oh and I'm not an Eminem dick rider. Eminem was better in this song and you know it).
I'm Back(10/10): Very Cleverly follows up to Remember me. its very well created but the last four lines are way to disgusting. RIP his mom.
Marshall Mathers(10/10): Very self aware song. Very. Eminem cleverly dishes out all his problems in a way which every man can actually relate too. that is genius.
Ken Kaniff: YUCK. SO GROSS I THINK I JUST HEARD GAY PORN.
Drug Ballad(10/10): So Mark Walhberg is a ***ing faggot according to Eminem. Amazing lyrics and flow. A song about drugs but ends up being so relatable to normal life you wonder how the *** Eminem twists his words this way.
Amityville(7/10): Meh. Eminem's verses are full of energy but lyrics are surprisingly sub par. Bizarre's verse is meant to scare the *** out of you. It did for me. Its gross.Period. But so catchy and yes the song is really good.
Bitch Please 2(9/10): Eminem's verse has so much balls in it. So much. Frankly this is one of my favorite verses of his. 'Here you want me to tone it down? SUCK MY ***ING DICK YOU FAGGOT, you happy now?' is one of my favorite lines of all time. Guest verses are decent but Xzhibhit truly stands out compared to Snoop and Dre. Also, The beat is amazing. Dre take a bow.
Kim(10/10): Needs no review. Hear it and be scarred for life.
Under the Influence(8.5/10): Other than Eminem's verses, D12 actually is decent. Bizarre's verse is actually not bad(shocked right?). CHORUS is just so much fun :')
Criminal(10/10): I think this is the best song after Stan and Kim on this album. Hate fags? the answer is yes: says Eminem and gets away with it. Inspiration for all of us. If The last verse and the chorus doesnt touch you in a way then you arent human. Amazing end to an amazing album. ( damn I'm using the word 'amazing' too much arent I?)
in conclusion, I'm not going to force you to listen to this album. But unless you have a personal Vendetta against Eminem, you cant hate this album.
