Unhallowed just seems kinda... average. The only thing it has going for it is the guitar solo imo it really lacks punch and drags on too long. Soulreaper has trems for days plus those acoustic guitars over the really heavy riffing is evil is fuck. The trems at 5:00 backed by the double bass is the best thing ever.

Unhallowed just seems kinda... average.
:-( I love the vocal/guitar rhythm for the first verse. It's that simple accompanying lead that does it for me. And it just sounds colder than Soulreaper during the blasty parts.

Perhaps the strongest aspect of Storm of the Light’s Bane is just how malevolent and downright evil the entire experience really is.
I missed this review on the first time round, but this is exactly why I like this album so much even if I don't like black metal in general. You listen to stuff like Mayhem, Darkthrone and Burzum, and it's just dark and noisy, and too disorderly to really be evil. But Storm of the Light's Bane? It's structured and precise, and more meticulous, thus bringing that truly malevolent feel.
Not a 5 for me, but still really good.

You get through Thorns of Crimson Death and you're like wow this is so flawless and then Soulreaper starts and is all c-c-c-COMBO BREAKERRRRR!
