part of the reason why I don't like it. can't stand SS, yet I had to listen to it all the time since my friend was constantly playing it wherever we'd be.
I usually love melodic death metal (hell, I played/wrote songs in a mdm band for 3 years), just not this kind. actually the only active band in the genre that still interests me is Be'lakor.

I used to love Spectrum but the opener from this is just as good if not better. also agree with the Scar Symmetry comparison, Soilwork has indeed kinda veered closer to the former on this release, with more variety in the melodies and increased heaviness and emotional load of the songs.
also i've been loving this recent trend of Soilwork openers being among the heaviest songs on the album. much better than that fucking rejection role and stabbing the drama shit
