Can't really add this to my list quite yet but from 2012 on:

Favourites but only top 2 are 5's

1. Trouble Will Find Me

2. Maybe this

3. Run the Jewels 2

4. Carrie & Lowell

5. Benji

6. Shields - grizzly bear

Not really a vintage time lol

I've not heard the King Creosote or Bill Wells will check 'em, PJ Harvey I just can't get into (I did listen to most of that album), BOC is strong but too soundtracky to be my favourite of theirs, Calexico is excellent but hasn't gone beyond that level yet and suffers for me having listened to loads of stuff in that genre

Never understood all the love for Carrie And Lowell, it loses way too much steam after a few extra listens

Also, it's been two weeks and I can't stop listening to Distant Past. Help.

CLOVER - C&L suffers the same issue as Benji - they aren't discs you want to spin in any mood. When you are in the mood I think they're pretty much faultless.

Distant Past is a lot of fun. I love the fact each song on this album has a moment that lifts it to another level. Distant it's the bit where he holds the 'paaaaast' to almost a scream after the second chorus, Spring/Sun it's the last minute when the guitar comes in, the Wheel it's the chanting on the second verse. Great album.

Would you Adam and Eve it. Dress me like a twat, pass me the laptop, sit me in Starbucks and slap me silly. The opener on this really is quite something. This is dragging me in. Distant past is fucking pish though.

Distant Past is great when you realise it's the only song of its type on the album. I think the 90's rave chorus is an affectionate pisstake considering the song title/theme.

Even though the band claim it's not about them I instantly thought of ISIS converts listening to it, funny tune

They have admitted The Wheel was inspired by UKIP, the snake oil salesman politician being a Farage type character.

The double hit of The Wheel and Fortune 500's creepy murder/terrorism fantasy are the peak of the album for me.

The t/t reminds me so much of Talking Heads/David Byrne, esp Once in a Lifetime

'Fortune 500' feels like an update of 'Listening Wind' too, lots of Remain in Light parallels for me on this.

'Warm Healer' > 90% of King of Limbs, it does sound a lot like Separator just a teensy bit better

'Blast Doors' and 'S / S / W / D' are the weakest here and both are still pretty tight, this album is flooring me

JJ - watched most of the Glasto footage, daytime non-headline sets always sound pretty bad televised. EE sounded...ok, the worst I remember was watching The National's outdoor set at a festival on TV (think it was Glasto)...shocking.

Maybe I was being harsh but remember thinking it sounded terrible at the time. Another bad one was Bloc Party, again I think at Glastonbury on ta telly. In the flesh FNM at Hyde Park last year was awful, they just melted in their suits, kinda pitiful

Worst of all time was Marilyn Manson at Reading one year, I just remember him mincing around on stilts and playing a garbage set with the most bored looking crowd I've ever seen. Think he needed oxygen on stage a lot - too much makeup me old China

Jesus. Don't get me started on Brian.

FNM is a shame, definitely a band I'd have loved to have seen in their prime.

Quite a few memorable TV performances for me come from Glasto. Radiohead, Orbital with the headlamps spring to mind.

Other classics are Sepultura on the word, NIN at Woodstock '94 but the ultimate although obviously I didn't see it at the time The Who when moon detonates his drum kit at the end of My Generation on that yank show.

this has grown on me a lot. better melodies and more variety than the debut and they've dropped the coldplay-isms of arc. blast doors is such a great tune

Zak - FNM at Download 2010 and Phoenix 97 were incredible though

Back to Brian I just loved the fact on stage you had this goth dude trying his hardest fighting a smoke machine and a pair of stilts...while below a static field of dudes in makeup didn't seem to know what to do

This is definitely sinking it's claws in. No Reptiles has charmed me, lyrics are spectacular.

So glad this album is getting more attention now, this will easily be a top 5 album for 2015.

No Reptiles is a good one yeah, got to love those lizard conspiracies but as he suggests those with the most power are probably just weak old men sitting there like eggs. The pushchair bit sums up the '24 hour news' generation - we just sit there and watch

Ranking/rating as I'm feeling it now:

1. The Wheel 5/5

2. Fortune 500 5/5

3. To the Blade 5/5

4. Get to Heaven 4.5/5

5. No Reptiles 4.5/5

6. Zero Pharoah 4.5/5

7. Regret 4/5

8. Distant Past 4/5 (I know, I enjoy it...)

9. Warm Healer 4/5

10. S/S/W/D 3.5/5

11. Blast Doors 3.5/5

Could change round a lot, but that's definitely enough good stuff to rate a 5/5 album

I take the pushchair bit to be children sent off to war, 'old enough to run, old enough to fire a gun'

And the soft boiled eggs wobbling in their suit and ties as the masters of war scenario.

Anyway, artwork rules.

The lead singer (should look up name) gets pushed to define all the lyrics - he did say Fortune 500 isn't literally about assassinating the Queen lol

Probably had to say that really
