Anyone who says this sounds like Tears For Fears meets Foster the People makes me think they've never actually listened to either of those bands.

"It improves on BOTH those bands though"

Tears for Fears is better than this tho

I can hear a lil 21 pilots tbh. This album makes me a bit uncomfortable. :/

Most 'good music' has some dubious influences in the mix

All of those bands suck way hard, so to say these guys turned all that into catchy, delicious weirdo pop that doesn't suck way hard is a compliment imo.

Maybe. But, at least 3 are better than any other song on Arc.

There's definitely interesting stuff going on with the synths and vocal arrangements of this album, but I feel like at the core of it is just a bland run-of-the-mill alternative album. I wonder if that's because of the producer. Like their other albums are questionable in their own rights, but I don't think they could be accused of falling victim to the shitty pop hook formula, which almost every song on here that I've heard totally does.

And I totally hear a 21 pilots influence

Yeah this has the most simplistic pop structures.

I'd say their previous album throws more run of the mill Coldplay shapes, this album is a subversive little fucker

I would never subject myself to 21 pilots again after the music video I saw last year though, so I'll take everyone's word for there being similarities. I know this is simple pop, but it's got enough weirdness to make it different for me. Not surprised a lot of people hate this though. I had no idea what the fuck I was listening to the first time I heard one of their singles and didn't like it at all on first listen.
