Really like soul mining and dusk as well. Not sure how much more I like this record. Great jem of a band. Matt Johnson's other projects are worth checking out as well. So many wonderful sounds on this one..Sweet Bird one of my favorites. I have a lotta things I want to say about this record, but doof nailed it. Great album surprised to see it on here

ah, I consider Burning Blue Soul a The The album because it was re-released under that title. Great album.

Ah, that makes sense. The issue I saw must have been the original pressing, but yeah great stuff. This your favorite doof?

Favourite album full stop.

'Soul Mining' is second to this out of The The releases, have it at a 4.5, but it still feels more of a drop off than the .5 difference would suggest. This is my '5.5' album I guess.

Tis a great album indeed.. I have a soft spot for Soul Mining.. front to back.. great album. They're damn close for me, but this album has more of a cynical edge to it that attracts me more sometimes. It even has Heartland which is the best damn song ever.

Think contemporary prog is more likely, both accounts gave sky-high ratings to Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree (and Coheed and Cambria, though Doof doesn't have any Coheed ratings - can't imagine them being his thing though)

Actually looking at the 5s for both accounts there's an immense amount of overlap. TappedOut and GardenCafe have 53 and 62 5s, respectively. 34 of those are mutual.

Both accounts were created in 2014, had a decent amount of ratings under their belts by the end of the year, and then went dormant for some time before reactivating just recently.
