Golden Number is so fuego.

for all the hype it got for it to only end up being like a 2.8 it's a pretty huge letdown, therefore sucks.
Golden Number is the saving grace here and I seriously have no clue why they jumped the shark and refused to make anything else sounded like that, teased it as the first released track from the album, and then stuck it as the first track *on* the album. Record is one giant tease.

I dig this. Mostly Silver Flower Pt1 and 2. Not sure how I'd rate it yet.

Well, I guess I rated it already. I don't remember doing that, but I think a 3.5 is fair.

If dfhvn didn't exist people would just call it the crappy WoD clone it is.

Album Rating: 3.0 | Sound Off
why would you give it a 3 if you thought it was just a crappy clone.

Album Rating: 2.5
WoD is a 4/5 band and this is only a 3/5 band at best, so relatively speaking if they were trying to worship WoD they only did an 'eh' job at it.

and it has Golden Number which is a great song and some of the other melodic work is decent, so that bumps that it from a 2.5.

I still don't get why everyone is so obsessed with Golden Number. It's good but silver flower is better.

Deafheaven in their latest p4k feature:
"The album left such a big impact that directly ripping it off can now double as a career-stoking publicity stunt: The California quintet are none too pleased with a new band called Ghost Bath that named their recent album Moonlover and its lead single “Happyhouse”—a title suspiciously similar to Deafheaven’s own “Dreamhouse”. 'They stole everything about their whole shit from us,' says guitarist Kerry McCoy"

ya they actually stole everything from Woods of Desolation ;) but I understand the frustration, and it really puts into perspective why they seem to have run as fast as they could away from Sunbather for their new album.
