Sugar In Sacrament would have to be my favourite song so far.
Mine's "We Will Overcome". The ending of the song is catchy and uplifting.

I love thursday, i have every cd they made except 5 stories falling.
I love Full Collapse, but i though WATT fell short somewhere.
I've heard they've been making an album, but i wasn't interested until i could hear some soundclips or something. It wasn't until maybe a week before it came out, that i heard counting5-4-3-2-1, and i though it was a big departure of what they've done.
But i walked into FYE on a whim (my gf was in there buying some dvds while i was at the office max next door getting stuff for a presentation in class) saw it and bought it on the spot.
popped it in on the ride home, and felt completely emerged in it. For the past week now it's been all i've listened to.
and i though they wouldn't do any better than Full Collapse. This album complements it well. If FC was a 5, this could easily be 4.9 IMO
Also, if anyone here hasn't, pick up Waiting, it's a great cd, and very different from their other stuff.

the album is alright. my biggest complaint is that it lacks the really memorable guitar riffing that the other albums had. And that they butchered the song Telegraph Avenue Kiss, the demo version available had a sick intro riff reminisant of Cursive, for the album they took out the guitar in the first verse trying to make it sound overly-epic. lame. still a good album tho but nowhere near as good as full collapse

I'm not really sure what to think of this album yet. There are some really nice songs there, and some I'm not sure if they fit or drop out. Quick thoughts:
- "Sugar in the Sacrement" is really good. Transports a lot of emotion, feels like sitting in the open window listening to the falling rain of a summer thunderstorm. (Which is actually the exact case right now )
- Some spots sound like Dredg, some a bit like Porcupine Tree. Interesting
- What's up with "The Lovesong Writer"? This sounds like an absolute closure song to an album. It feels REALLY odd that there are more songs following
Good album, not sure about a rating yet

Now that you mention it I do see some parellels with Dredg, especially with the more ambient parts and most of Running From The Rain. I agree with Lovesong being out of place as well. They probably struggled with this having two very epic songs on the album(Lovesong and Autumn Leaves). Maybe if they had placed either one before (The Light) it might have flowed easier.

now that i've listened to it a few times i can definitely say that this is a solid album. my favorite songs right now off of it are "at this velocity" and "running from the rain".
it's different from their previous work, yet at the same time you can still tell it's thursday. for this i applaud them. i also like how they incorporated the keyboard into the songs more. i saw them live before war all the time came out, and the keyboard player did almost nothing except stand in the background. glad they're making proper use of him now.
probably my only complaint at this point is the production. the guitars have more of an edge, which i don't think is necessarily a good thing for this band. that and the vocals are not high enough in the mix. i agree with whoever said that the vocals are a lot of what makes thursday so dear to all of us, and they are no longer the driving force in these songs.
full collapse is still their best album by far, imo.

liked the in depth analysis of the album, its a bit lacking though. u gotta be more subjective man.
easily better then WATT. sugar in the sacrement's growing on me

question. is the album meant to be this distorted?
like there seems to be an unusual amount of distortion in The Lovesong Writer and Counting 5-4-3-2-1

I'm guessing its the sound or feel Thursday wanted with their new producer.

This is my first Thursday album. Not sure what the rating is yet though because I only have had it for a day. It's good though.

I think it's cool, adds a bit of variety to the album.

ATV is definitely one of, if not the, best track on the album.

I'm going to go ahead and rate this a 3.5 for now. That seems to be where it's headed.

I'm going to rate it as 'good' not great. It's the same old thursday as before. Personally i liked the previous albums a lot more...maybe it's because I've heard this all before in their previous albums, not much has changed. There are a few songs that I like but as a whole this album is nothing special and nothing new. This Message Edited On 06.06.06
