Serpent is the only thing i have rated below a 4.

Oh and Stone Wind and Pillor, forgot about that one.

I've only heard 2 of their EPs, Faustian Echoes & The White.

Yeah the 3.5 thing isn't particularly relevant except Pork thinks 3.5 is my modus operandi...

For his benefit I counted my 3.5s & 4s & 4.0 actually wins (just) 121-119.

Everything by Agalloch is at least a 3.5 for me, except for The Grey which is ... not that good.

I wasn't looking for an overall average, just wanted to see how many 3.5s were present compared to another common rating of mine, could've used 3.0 as well perhaps.

Marrow is a 2.5, Serpent is a 3.0, and everything else is 4 and above imo

Yeah man, it has this certain grandiose that you don't really see off of future Agalloch albums.

I get a very theatrical vibe from a lot of this, with the extended piano sections etc that weren't really on their future albums. It's my third favorite Agalloch but I still love it.

I still need to get into the white EP, I have the vinyl but I haven't paid very hard attention while listening to it. Mine is mantle - aatg- then this. Mantle and Ashes change places every now and then though.

Acoustic part of As Embers Dress the Sky is one of the most beautiful things ever.

The White is a strong ep, but everytime I listen to it I feel like it takes a while till it really takes off (up to Pantheist to be precise), and from then on it's only 20 minutes until the thing is over already. I love some of it, but it doesn't feel as satisfying to me to listen to it compared to their first 4 full-lengths.

Man I adore every second of The White EP. Not a single second is out of place. You just have to be in a very specific mood for it.
