When I'm in the mood for this album it's really great! I definitely prefer their speed metal/power metal albums but this has some really great songs and the guitar work is phenomenal.

The mixing is kinda off in spots but this is their strongest song-writing. Seeing the first 3 songs live really helped elevate my enjoyment of this. Been really into Sacred Mind lately.

Yeah, The Ninth Wave was fantastic live. They still put on a damn good show.

Holy Grail fucking goes man

Holy Grail was the first one I really loved on here, but now it seems kinda trivial compared to how insanely multi-layered some of the other songs are. Still an amazing song. This has gotten far to little attention. It's partly because of the inglorious production, I reckon.

I suppose. Plus, it kinda pales in comparison to their last album, especially when considering their respective openers and closers.

I think Edge of Time and this are pretty much on par, even though I might prefer this one because it grabs my attention from start to finish due to the brilliant arrangements. But I agree concerning the openers and closers. Even though Ninth Wave is amazing, Sacred Worlds is one of the very best they ever did imo, so it edges it out. It's not that close with Wheel of Time and Grand Parade. I don't really like Grand Parade all that much considering how much I love this album as a whole.
The Throne and ATEOT are my favorites on here, they're both as epic as Blind Guardian have ever been

I agree. Edge has better book end songs, but this is so much more gripping all the way through on the whole. Probably my favorite blind guardian despite the production.

I can get behind that, also because of its interesting concept (even though it's a pain to figure it all out and I'm still trying every now and then) and generally the ambition of said concept to tie the whole discography together into one story, more or less. I still prefer Imaginations and Nightfall, but this and Edge would be right behind them.

The story is definitely a pain to figure out. I got the mediabook thing which helps and I can follow the story for the most part but it definitely falls apart toward the end and I have no idea what's going on. Hopefully the concept for the orchestral album is somewhat clear since they're doing an actual book with it.

I never got the story whatsoever.

As far as I know the story for the orchestra project is done by Markus Heitz, a German fantasy novel writer. Don't really like what he does, it always seemed very generic to me. But I hope that Blind Guardian will keep an eye on it, I'm sure they want the concept to be something more than dwarves killing orcs and elves.

Apparently the album is delayed again cause they didn't like what he came up with initially. So I'm sure it'll be decent when it drops or they'll drop him.

Ah, that explains a lot. Well, nice to see that they do indeed make demands regarding the story.
They've always cared a lot about making the final result worthy of their ambitions. That's one thing I love about these guys, they're reliable.

Should be rad once it's here. They were gonna do it as a supplemental release to their real studio albums but now its going to be the next real album even if it isn't metal.
