The opener “VI Scose Poise” demonstrates this as good as or better than any of the following cuts
should be "as well as"

some albums i dislike but see why others dig it, but this is impossible for me to comprehend. it's so shallow, so plain. songs repeat the same ideas for 7 minutes sometimes with little to no modulation. that might not necessarily be a problem if the music on offer was actually good (an empty bliss does this but the music is actually fantastic), but there's very little actually going on here

"impossible for me to comprehend"
"so shallow...songs repeat the same ideas for 7 minutes"
you see your problem?

i see that you disagree with me, but i don't see a problem. on the surface i get that that might look hypocritical, but i don't mind repetition in music. henryk gorecki's symphony of sorrowful songs does just that in the first movement, just gradually becomes louder with little additions, but the same motif revolves. on this, i feel like those motifs are boring to begin with, so they don't hold my attention well for 7 minutes at a time.
look, of course there's a lot of music people are going to like that i dislike and vice versa, just looking for someone to tell me what it is that they enjoy about this album, other than its aesthetic being 'intentional' (doesn't make it inherently good). maybe i'll get into this some day, because my opinions on music seem to be changing all the time, but today is not that day. i just played the whole album about an hour ago, and i do agree there are moments of beauty and neat little nuances. i was in a trance listening to certain tracks, but i'm far from titillated, especially when holding this up to their other, obviously superior material (like tri and amber). i probably wouldn't be making such a fuss if this wasn't touted as groundbreaking and their magnum opus by many

then was it really necessary to compare it to dog shit? I feel you may have overstated yourself, bub

maybe that was unfair of me to say. i'll straight up say i think it verges on terrible, and i've had encounters with really snobbish music enthusiasts who defend it based on its importance to the genre and supposed subtext, but i've yet to see people really make a case for the music. i don't mean to detract from the cultural/genre importance certain albums have, i'm just wondering why people claim this is their best when their other work is far more detailed and overall enjoyable. this seems incredibly nondescript in their discography
