Based on the singles I'm just not looking forward to the new album tbh. Doubt i'll even jam it unless some good reviews change my mind.

I'm actually liking the new album quite a bit. Very different and experimental for them, I know a lot of fans will hate it but it's pretty solid so far. Big industrial/electronic and progressive influence on this, it's clear they gave no fucks and did what they wanted to do, it's too weird to be a "sellout" record although it's catchy for sure. Elektra, Dawkins and 366 are the closest to old Refused you'll get here. Servants Of Death, Old Friends/New War and Useless Europeans are the biggest departures from them yet. Old Friends/New War, Destroy The Man and 366 especially rule.

Outside of Destroy the man, Dawkins and Elektra the record just doesn't do anything for me.
I wouldn't cry sell out, it's just not an engaging listen for me.

This needs a few listens for sure, but so far I'm really liking it. Thought Is Blood and War On The Palaces are growing on me, and as a collection of songs it does have a solid flow despite most songs being quite distinct from each other. At least half this album is a huge departure for them but it's just weird and catchy in the best way.

http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/06/refuseds-david-sandstrom-and-dennis-lyxzen-the-changing-shape-of-punk/ great interview

yo the album didn't need both "francafrique" and "old friends / new war" if their instrumental arrangements were gonna be that similar
jeez this thing isn't nearly as bad as it could have been but it seriously sounds like they just recorded the first ten songs they had with no scrutiny of quality whatsoever
