"the wall / the final cut is / are the worst pink floyd album(s)"
i think this is maybe the most absurd comment i've ever read concerning worst floyd albums

i've actually never been able to understand how many people think this is their best album. it has some gorgeous moments. that part when the vocals come in on shine on, a lot of really cool experimental and drone-y sounds in welcome to the machine, all of the title track, and that wild solo in have a cigar. and yet, i think the album slips into really boring territory at points. despite my love of the guitar solo in have a cigar, the song doesn't stand out to me. shine on is way too long and i'm not gripped by all the guitar noodling, technical and masterfully produced as it is.

every moment in Shine On drips with purpose and feeling imo

There's no noodling whatsoever in Shine On Parts I-V. No guitar playing has ever been further from noodling within the realms of prog.

^well said Jamie.

well, maybe noodling was a poor word choice, but all the same the soloing isn't always crazy interesting

"Wish You Were Here" (the song) is so clichéd at this point that I can't bear to listen to it. I would prefer the album if it was just 45 minutes' worth of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond."

If the t/t doesn't punch you in all of the feels with an overwhelming nostalgia for the past...you have no heart

some idiots just blow off anything aged and acclaimed

If that's supposed to refer to me, then you should probably know that the Art Blakey album referenced above was about 20 years old when Wish You Were Here came out.
I find it to be a trite song and I don't care for it. I'm otherwise a Pink Floyd fan, and a lot of my favorite albums are older than that. No need to be presumptuous.
