after repeated listens i've changed my mind on this. at first i agreed with dev that its a great album but doesn't sound like a Caribou album but honestly with my new familiarity with each song this sounds to me like the next natural progression from Swim.
Really only one song irks me at this point not only because its the only song that sounds like it doesn't belong on a Caribou album but also because it just doesn't do anything. Second Chance has some really cool ideas going on instrumentally but it literally goes nowhere. Every time I hear it I expect it to take off in the same colourful direction of the rest of the album but instead it just repeatedly returns to that awful anti-climactic chorus. The chick he featured sounds completely out of place on the album as well, plus she sounds like she's trying to pull of a Grimes-esque pseudo lisp for aesthetic purposes and it just doesn't work. Every time she shifts pitch in that obnoxious chorus it just sounds like Grimes trying to do terrible radio pop vocals and then it just recedes back into the same section that really has potential but serves no purpose other than a good intro into a song that could really go somewhere...

If you want to know a secret
What are you waiting for?
If you want to ask me something
I can tell you so much more
If you want to cause me trouble
It's not up to me
I know that there's something missing
Does it mean you're leaving me?
Cant say I havent felt like this before.

Beautiful review Rudy, I happened to be reading right as Our Love dropped into the deep house bit. Funky stuff
Probs in top ten for 2014

agree. this is a lot more ironed out and smoother though. But I actually like the track with Lanza, although she's a bit uncomfortable being out of control. At least, that's what I deduced from the live set, as she opened solo for Caribou and then had to come back to do the vocals on 'Second Chance' and she was clearly less compelling than she was earlier
