Great review. The soundtrack was definitely something I noticed during the movie which was a great one. One of the most unpredictable and surprising films I've seen in a couple of years. I laughed at how many people walked out of the theater muttering about how shitty it was.
Btw the town is Carthage, but the movie is set in Cape Girardeau Missouri, about an hour away from me. I guess they made up the town. My mom was flipping out because she used to live there and kept recognizing places in it. Apparently I had some relatives that were extras in the movie but I couldn't spot them.

I'm sorry but how the fuck can someone give this a 1? Damn. "Tecnically, Missing" alone gives this album at
least a 2.5.

This soundtrack added to the movie's mood and atmosphere so well, it almost feels like a companion to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack, also by Reznor and directed by Fincher.

Am I the only one who wasn't totally blown away by the film? I definitely enjoyed it and the ending was excellent in itself, but by the time it got there, I had stopped identifying and sympathising with all the characters. I appreciate that that's roughly the point, but it made the film convincing in a way that I objectively appreciated more than I actually liked.

That makes sense. Fincher himself has admitted that the last half of the movie kind of slips into absurdity so it's not surprising that some people might have become detached with it in the end.

a lot of people don't pick up that it's a black comedy. Either way MOTY

thats probably because it isn't a black comedy. like at all.

just because you can perceive something dark in a movie as ironic or subtly humorous doesn't make it a black comedy

Yes. I saw it in a sold out show and was like the only person laughing.
And it definitely is, potsy.

"Satire"
|
| |
Satire =/= black comedy. If you saw it as a black comedy, fair enough, but I think it's much more likely that the satire tag refers the film's play on popular perceptions abusive relationships by making the woman the aggressor, thereby satirising social outlook. I guess that could count as a comic undertone, but its hardly predominant enough to make the film a black comedy IMO.

Just because there are moments of humor doesn't necessarily make a movie a comedy, and Gone Girl definitely isn't one lol
