I'm glad these guys managed to redefine themselves after two mediocre records. I was positively surprised when I first heard this.

Good album. Good review.

This is growing on me a lot. Good songs and tasty licks of course, but the trump card is how short it is, which I much prefer.

3.0? That feels low, even for the musicianship and songwriting themselves. Add the execution, and I don't see how it could end up lower than 3,5 at least

That's mostly due to the fact that this band has grown off me over the years. I used to think that this band was the best thing in the world back when I was 16 but now when I compare it to other bands in this genre it just feels like it's good but nothing truly groundbreaking. The songwriting and musicianship you mentioned make this a good album for me, but there's a lot of bands out there that make me far more excited.

I was surprised by how much a grower this was. It's definitely the Scar Symmetry album that has kept me coming back the most in the long run. The first three were big short-term binges, but this one I still throw on every so often and still thoroughly.

The guitar leads on this are some of the best ever put to tape in my humble opinion.

They are taking forever on the follow up. Per Nilsson has been producing and touring and working with other bands a ton. If it kicks ass when it comes it will be completely worth it. They said this was the start of a trilogy so the pressure is on.

Yeah they're really breaking my balls with the wait. I think we'll get some info within one month, as they're on a 3-week tour right now, and they said it was the last tour of the Neohumanity touring cycle. After they're done, I expect some goddamn teasers

Check Words Of Farewell - The Black Wild Yonder for some Soilwork/SS-esque melodeath to hold you over until a new album

Yea that Xenotaph track is soooo damn epic with that same vocal and the 4 shifting parts. It goes from standard groove, to melodic part, to building up part, to super heavy groove part. Sounds like it'll be a long closer, and the vocal contribution is super cool.
