Fair enough, I get where you're coming from. They're so difficult to hear that I happily ignore them for the most part

That's fair enough as well, you could definitely listen to this and ignore the lyrics if you wanted

Sometimes the strange lyrics add a mysterious element though...like hunger of the pine

I'm giving this another try and I might have to bump my rating up, I like the subtlety and moodiness of it.

It has this subtle air of "we know we're fucking with everyone, and we don't care"

it's awesome

I've always liked the first few songs on here, but tracks like Choice Kingdom and Hunger of the Pine are sounding better now that I can pick up on the subtleties of them, having listened to the album a few times.

Yeah everyone throws around the term "grower" but this actually is one.

I have a feeling a lot of fans of their debut will be put off with this (as I was) because it's so different, but in my opinion that's one of its strengths. It would've been so easy to rehash what they know people will like, instead of doing what they did with this.

It was a 2.5 for a while, then a 3 while I was listening, and when I finished a 3.5

Almost all the songs are good or great, it's a fitting follow up to the upbeat debut

Left Hand Free is the only bad song on this IMO, and I like this a fair bit but the filler keeps it at a 3.

I'm not crazy about Left Hand Free, but I wouldn't call any of this filler, except maybe the interludes?

Really good album. I expected it to be a disappointment, but some of the best songs they've written are on here.
