Thanks Rowan.

not sure I understand what you're trying to say here

Basically what I'm saying is that sometimes a lyricist can write a set of lyrics not so much as a means of creating a song but because they feel the need for those words to be heard/written. The fact that they are presented within the context of a song is secondary.
Looking back at it though I think I should have said "in a sense that..." instead of "in a way".

I will fix those other two things.

Ah yeah, I get you there, the way you worded it was just really confusing. its a fair point though

Can't really think of a better way to word it as concisely at the moment.

First listen and this one is great. Need to relisten and read the lyrics though.

Yeah, Stormcock didn't do much for me on first listen but this one easily did. Not saying one is better than the other ofc. It's a bit longer than your "typical" folk album and I felt that but it's pretty consistent nonetheless.

I think all of Harper's first 5 albums are growers but this one is probably the most immediate. That's not to say it doesn't better with repeated listens though, because it definitely does.

I think this album would have been even better had it ended at Francesca. Song of the Ages is probably the weakest on the album (probably because it's the only song not written by Harper) and Hell's Angels just feels so out of place.

It, is nice. It's no stormcock though. That was the album that got me into folk back when I was a close minded prog rock/metal fan.

The singing in Hells angels really reminds me of Daevid Allen Gong

I like this album, but why did he have to make it all political?
