I don't like this as much as their last, but it's damn close.

'If theres one thing im a major sucker for in music it's having pianos in your songs'
'I'm a sucker for strings and/or acoustic guitars'
Sounds like you guys are really gonna dig the EP I'm making atm.

would i like this if i thought sing the word was really boring?

This review is based on a rip where nearly all the titles are wrong and the album plays in a totally non sensical order. The longest track on the record is Volga which closes the album, in this rip it plays third and makes no sense as it was designed to close the record.
It was a pretty big disappointment for me that a lot of people ended up listening to this album effectively on shuffle rather than how it was intended.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

This grew off me very quickly, unfortunately. I'd take the new Talons over this any day regarding all instrumental pieces...

‘All Things Transient’ and the gorgeous ‘Permanence’ complete the list of highlights
Agree with the former, strongly disagree with the latter. Transient has an energy that almost reminds me of Foals, whereas the latter just feels immensely lacking to me.

Permanece actually felt to me like one of the times when they achieved the pretty simplistic beauty they were going for throughout. Opinions though bro. You going to get round to reviewing this?
|

Yeah bud I have half a review written already
Hard to parse out my exact thoughts on this tho

never even jammed these guys yet and I feel like this will give a false impression.
|

Yes it will
Their earlier stuff shows more immediately what's special about these guys

Maybe if you listen to the album in the right order, then you might change your mind about it. Just
saying. Because I thought track 3 seemed too grand to be straight after In Amber, and it ended up
being the album closer when in the correct order.
Give it a go. If you still feel the same about it, then fair enough. But this album deserves to be
reviewed in its actuality, because as has already been said, otherwise you're practically listening
to it on shuffle.
I admit, it's on a 5 for me because these guys are my favourite band and this album is exactly what
I wanted from them. I'm not expecting it to be a 5 for everyone else, but yeah.
That's all, I'm out now.

its pretty unacceptable for a review from a contrib to be featured on the front page that is entirely based on an incorrect, illegal leak of an album. really drags down the credibility of this website. at least it wasn't staff. the review should be removed in my opinion.

This is pretty good. Don't know why the rating is so low. Maybe it will go on a 4 for me.

You do know staff are able to write reviews about records that have leaked, yes? Considering that it isn't too much of a shocker that there'd be an album that's someday leak with an alternate tracklisting. Sure, not ideal that the review is written from a perspective that's inaccurate in a way, but Dan can edit this review if he would like to. And expect professional things from professional sites- I.E., the ones where people actually make somewhat of an income from this stuff instead of doing it for their own enjoyment.

The piano parts all become tiring after the first few listens, despite being very pretty initially. In Amber and Transient both rule.

i know staff can write reviews about records that have leaked. my point is that they shouldn't. regardless of whether anyone gets paid to write here, the reviews do often have a wider impact, sometimes being cited by wikipedia and counting towards metacritic averages. and those are places that a lot of people get information from. whether or not the site is considered professional right now, i'd like to think that the staff do have aspirations to be somewhat credible critics.
