I haven't checked much Frightened Rabbit either, so I'll check that along with the new Rosebuds album.

Nice. All good things to check out for sure. If you listen to any Frightened Rabbit start with Midnight Organ Fight, it's a classic or borderline classic IMO. It may be abrasive vocally and lyrically blunt, but it's so emotional in a way that I haven't really seen replicated by anyone else.

Yeah, I noticed how Scott's Scottish (lol) accent bled into his singing a bit. I actually kinda dig it, though. Maybe that's just because I have a weird thing for Irish and Scottish accents, lol.

I didn't like it at first but after a while I became the same way. It makes it more personal and endearing, it's part of who he is and he doesn't shy away from it in his music which I respect.

I mean, it's not like his singing is bad with the accent, it's just...... Different. I mean, I can understand why some people couldn't get into it, but it's certainly not sloppy or off-pitch.

Cool Spirit...I admire that you can dig indie stuff like this whilst being mostly into metal. I can swing both ways too, but I'm still like 90% indie/alt/rock, etc.

I used to only listen to metal and hard rock. Now, I listen to electronic, hip hop, punk, and indie.

Yeah, I've been trying to broaden my horizons a bit recently. This year seems to have been a goldmine so far, lots of good releases.

The sooner you learn to love and appreciate all genres of music, the better.

I'm close but I still struggle with overly screamy variations of hardcore, extremely dense and unlistenable black metal, and most types of gangster rap where every other word is the b word or n word

...and my disdain of the latter is perfectly fine with me

The only genre of music I can't really stand is crunkcore or whatever the fuck you call it.

It almost (ALMOST) disappoints me that Owl John won't become something to stand right alongside Frightened Rabbit in the coming years, but here's hoping the best bits of Owl John weave their way into next year's FR album.

My taste was already pretty diverse, it's really just indie/alt that I hadn't listened to MUCH. Even then I still had a few favorites here and there.

I've givin up on all "core" music. Also I can't get into albums where they scream/growl a lot except for a few exceptions (Agalloch, Isis).
Review is great. Can't wait to check this.

Let's all just talk about how great 'A Good Reason to Grow Old' is. It's probably my song of the year at this point.

I just listened to it and idk, it definitely wont be a favorite song of the year for me. Album is sounding pretty good so far though!
