I actually agree with that too. Endless Sacrifice is equally as good

I can see it. I'm on/off with In the Name of God. Honestly the only song I can't really get into is Stream of Consciousness. I'm evidently in the minority of those who legitimately likes LaBrie's vocals, so aside from something brief like Overture 1928 I'm indifferent and mostly unimpressed by the band's instrumentals.
Sorry guys, it's just how I honestly feel.

Don't be sorry, it's nice to have some contrasting opinions that aren't troll opinions.
That's interesting actually, so you believe that LaBrie's vocals are the main standpoint in any DT song? They're alright and he has his great moments, but I never thought about it like that

Stream isn't top 20 DT for me or anything but I can't stand his singing and it has some awesome parts so I'd probably consider it 3rd best on here
Name of God>Sacrifice>Stream>Dying Soul>Honor>As I Am>Vacant

In the Name of God is miles behind all those songs Verm

Vacant is one of their best 00's ballads, so chilling and subtle

I know right. It might be short, but it's pretty powerful and the lyrics are great too

Not necessarily, but simply having vocals seems to dictate more refrains and overall structure to the music. I tend to find heavy, prolonged instrumentals dull to begin with, and Stream rubs me much like say, Orion by Metallica; a good if you want a display of musical prowess, but not something I'd regard as pivotal or definitive for the band. I just prefer Dream Theater with vocals (with some exceptions, which you'll find out soon enough).

"Vacant is one of their best 00's ballads"
yeah because there are only six of them, half of which suck ass

There's more than six and none of them suck

ok i'll count them:
disappear
goodnight kiss
vacant
the answer lies within (sucks)
repentance (if you wanna count it as one, and overall it sucks)
wither (sucks)

Goodnight Kiss sucks apart from the solo

Answer Lies Within isn't bad. The only bad part is when laBrie tries to be really triumphant with the "You're gonna shiiiiine" part

I could listen to the last 2 minutes of Goodnight Kiss for hours.

You forgot I Walk Beside You, and I was counting the 2010's too but I guess 00's technically means only up to 2009 so whatever
I actually don't mind Wither, and it's only the second half of Repentance that sucks and it doesn't even fit with the first half, which is amazing. The Answer Within is probably the worst of those even if I don't personally dislike it or anything. I've learned to accept DT ballads I guess, even if they sometimes annoy me
