I don't know what it is, but Anberlin is practically a master when it comes to the openers in their albums.

Good review.
I was a bit surprised by your quotations of the lyrics to Harbinger though.
I was convinced Stephen sings "I don't want to go now, but I've got to, for you to remember me, in this light"

Thanks dude. As for harbinger, I'll listen again later after work. I swear to god that's what Christian sings but I could be wrong. Either way makes sense but if you lyrics are the case I'll change stuff around.

nice mongi a little clunky in parts though like
Make no mistake that Anberlin certainly didn't miss the target with this one.
sticks out a bit - prob half a dozen different ways to improve that sentence
nitpicks and proofreading and fine tuning
good review

"We are the destroyers” Stephen Christian exclaims
There should be a comma here before the end quotes, no? Standard dialogue punctuation, though some authors avoid it I guess.
Good review though. I like the album as well, but I actually disagree with a lot of your review. The most glaring is the premise of your album. I don't think this was much of a swan song at all. It may have been intentional on their part not to have an album full of fin's, so to speak, but whether that's because they're open to starting again in a few years or just because they feel a humble exit is fitting of Anberlin I don't really know. I could talk about it more, but I probably will save it for my review, whenever I get to that.
The other thing I disagree with is the beautiful atmosphere being unexpected. From the improvised cadenza (tautology, I'm well aware) at the end of fin to the entirety of Miserabile Visu (or New Surrender, really), the band has shown they're great at creating beautiful atmospheres. But that's a minor nitpick.

Yes your right I'll change that later too haha. And duh, of course they may start again at some point but they did say this will
be their last album so that's how I treated it. As for the atmosphere, it's more I like its more well done than ever than
"unexpected." With the exception of fin being their best work in that department. I can make that more clear later too.

Fair enough. I don't think you really have to clarify the thing about atmosphere since I don't think anyone really cares. Would probably be unnecessary.
and yeah, I didn't mean to say that your review shouldn't treat it as their last album, but rather to say that it didn't feel (to me) much like a swan song, at least musically (maybe it is lyrically), and was throwing out some ideas as to why that's true

haven't read threads but is this an in rainbows type deal where ppl are talking more about the circumstances surrounding the release and how it all 'fits' rather than the music itself?

Good review! This is about a 4 for me right now.
