drum sound is so isolated though, it may as well be sequenced if you're gonna engineer it to this degree
album is more solid than any of the other dinosaurs can really hope for at this point, but a bit mid-range and samey and y'know

yea its like every solid thrash record comes out like the past few overkill and testament records get rated just as high as the classics its dumb
This is true enough, but quite a few of them are very enjoyable, and show commendable work for bands that are well past their prime. I can only feel happy for the fact that there's still some damn solid records like Dark Roots of Earth and The Electric Age (haven't heard this just yet) coming out against the likes of World Painted Blood and Super Collider.
Anyway, I'm sure this will measure up against their last two albums nicely.

Good album, currently marginally preferring this to The Electric Age but I'm only a few tracks in.

I need to listen to this again. Overkill stays TRUE tho.

IDK if you guys know what "white devil" means, but this is just another example of metalheads completely ignoring the fucked up racist connotations the music they like expresses.
Also Overkill is boring.

Hey do you guys like that one Malevolent Creation song where he calls a black dude a nigger at the end? It's totally okay cause like I'm not racist and the music is heavy u no?
|

How about Inquisition? Nevermind that they're all for the genocide of an entire ethnicity the riffs are real bros!

good music is good music, I don't give a shit what the band believes
I guess you're a better man than I

Overkill made an official post on facebook before a couple of days, and said a big "fuck you" to all the racist
people. Also, their singer said that the title of the album means nothing and it is a couple of cool words
thrown together.

I generally agree with the sentiments in this thread about modern thrash but Overkill have aged way more gracefully than all of these third-tier bands that come back with some "super heavy" album that's really just code for awful production and generic riffs. I can't believe that Onslaught's Killing Peace, for example, has a 3.68 on RYM and a 3.7 here.
Of course, Overkill was way better than a lot of those bands in their prime, too, and D.D. Verni is a hell of an asset.

I honestly do not think there are any racial undertones in the album name; unless one goes looking for them. When I think of Overkill and Devil I think of the Jersey Devil. Armory is obviously for the lead single Armorist and they used White because we're the superior skin color.
See, no racism at all :D

this is pretty good, better than the electric age prolly
