"Semi colons aren't necessary in any avenue of writing, they're only used for flow and style."

Except he's right. You never "need" a semi-colon. Don't be stupid.

damn his last four videos are pretty bad, really disappointing after Tacky, Word Crimes and Foil
|

Puddles, you never "need" commas either, unless you're making a list. Even that could be accomplished without commas if you tried hard enough. Don't be stupid.

I love you Kr, but semicolons are used to merge two sentences together if and when they may have similar ideas. Anywhere
you can use a semicolon, you can also use a period. They are more about breaking up the monotony of certain writing. They
are pretty optional, a lot like contractions.

You guys are missing the point. I admit that semicolons are used stylistically. That doesn't mean that they're unnecessary! Like I said, you never really need to use commas in a sentence either. They can be avoided. Still, if you want to sound like an intelligent writer, you'll use them.
I didn't mean to pick a fight.

you never really need to use commas in a sentence either.
Oh, no no. Commas are way way way way way way way way way way necessary. They change entire meanings
of sentences in terms of organizing what the sentence is about if they are left out or mistakenly
added. They dictate the logic of the sentence and are probably THE most important and misused
punctuation mark, I'd argue.
I mean, I get what you're saying, but it is something akin to, "True, cars don't technically need
air fresheners, but think about it, they don't need functioning engines either. They wouldn't work
so well, but they're still cars." So, at this point, let's keep it narrowed down to relevancy.

Look man, nothing I said here was wrong.
|

Let's just both agree that semicolons rule and end this stupid argument.
