It is a raw mess, but I kind of like it. A lot more than anything he released after GAOG for sure

Yeah, this is Manson's last Manson sounding album. But then, this is the last album as a band.

I love this album, get all the points you raise though and they make sense, just don't annoy me as much, still pos'd! You should do the discography, would be good to read

Cheers man, much appreciated.

Pos'd, agreed on pretty much everything especially those dreadful melodies on the t/t. This might be his best musically and production-wise, but his lyrics and some of the vocals are really offputting at times.

It looks like The Pale Emperor could be a great album.

Probably my least favorite too but the production is so great it's always fun to jam. The Pale Emperor definitely looks like it could be his best in years

I'd probably say this one has my favourite production, it all sounds fucking massive!

It does, very slick but still dark and the guitar tone is perfect

They sort of wasted his potential I think, much as I love the music on here, could've used some shredding for sure

Think John's always been about the song, despite his amazing abilities. Don't think Manson has ever been as good since John departed either.

Definitely not, The Pale Emperor seems like it will be his heaviest since Grotesque which is promising

If only John 5 returned to create another brick heavy LP like this. Love his riffs here.

I shouldn’t like this
but Jesus Christ mobscene still goes so ridiculously hard, quintessential manson song

Never been a Manson fan tbh although Beautiful People and Dope Show were jams growing up. Just revisited Holy Wood though and I'd had it rated a 2 but I'd say it's a solid 3.5 now. Gonna revisit this one and Mechanical Animals/Superstar also I suppose. Back in the day Smells Like Children was really the only full release I enjoyed
