"a fair few people who like this album"

anyone who likes this painfully cookiecutter record either has crappy taste in melodeath because this is seriously all they've listened to, or they're just sheeple fanboys with loads of cognitive dissonance. This record is an insult.

Dethklok are actually good, though. This album just makes me sad knowing all the potential the band blatantly threw out the window after getting two new members who could've taken them in new directions or at least breathed a little life into the project. Instead Amott apparently wanted to maintain dictatorship over the music and beat that dried husk of a dead even more.

"You Will Know My Name" is a sick song though.

Yeah, their early stuff was much better and more inspired. Much like In Flames, Soilwork and Amon Amarth. They're all just phoning it in now! imo

Soilwork still get a lot of acclaim and their last few records have been really good. Amon Amarth's still have the capacity to write another great album imo.

That was my second death metal CD I think and I loved it to pieces when I was like 15 or 17 and just getting into extreme metal.

this isn't too bad; generic for sure but nothing offensively bad.

Btw y'all cowards don't even think Burning Bridges is the best

Liiva's vocals are not the best, definitely the weakest part of the band Liiva era, but they have some charm there for me. I certainly grew to like them more with repeated listens, and man the nostaligia value of that album is through the roof.

This band needs a HUGE shift in artistic direction. It's been the same "take them down / don't let the machine control you" bullshit for like 5 albums.
